Code of Business Conduct
At the Cotswold Brewing Company Ltd (“Hawkstone”), we're committed to doing business ethically and responsibly. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for everyone we work with, including our employees, customers, contractors and suppliers. It's about creating a positive and respectful environment where we can all thrive.
Respecting Each Other
- We treat everyone with respect, professionalism, and courtesy, regardless of their background or identity.
- We don't tolerate harassment, discrimination, or offensive behavior of any kind. This includes:
- Demeaning language or actions
- Aggression, intimidation, or threats
- Violence
- Sexual harassment or unwanted advances
- Discriminatory language (in person, online, or in shared materials).
Professional Conduct
- We don't allow drugs or weapons on any Hawkstone property or events and won’t tolerate it on the property or events of anyone we work with.
- We don't tolerate employees coming to work under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- We protect confidential information about Hawkstone and those we work with. This includes not using confidential information for personal gain (insider trading).
- We protect customer, employee and any third party data that we process according to the law.
Alcohol Responsibility
- We follow all UK alcohol licensing laws. This includes responsible retail sales, age verification, and advertising restrictions.
- We don't sell or market alcohol to underage individuals.
- Our marketing promotes responsible alcohol consumption and doesn't target underage individuals or vulnerable groups. We avoid portraying excessive drinking or associating alcohol with irresponsible behavior.
Legal and Ethical Business Practices
- We pay all applicable taxes and duties related to our brewing and sales operations.
- We maintain a safe and healthy work environment and follow all health and safety regulations.
- We follow UK competition law and avoid anti-competitive practices like price fixing.
- We produce high-quality and safe alcoholic beverages, adhering to strict quality control standards.
- We strive to minimise our environmental impact through sustainable brewing practices, responsible waste management, and efficient use of resources.
- We don't engage in bribery or corruption, including offering or accepting improper payments or gifts.
- Employees must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, and we'll take steps to manage them.
- We respect the intellectual property rights of others.
- We operate with transparency and accountability, keeping accurate records and providing clear information to stakeholders.
- We don't accept gifts or services worth more than a small amount from suppliers, potential suppliers, or other third parties.
- We don't make corporate contributions (including discounted services or materials) to politicians, political parties, or action committees without prior written approval from Hawkstone's Board of Directors.
Social Responsibility
We strive to make a positive contribution to society and the environment by:
- Maintaining high marketing ethics
- Respecting human rights in our supply chain
- Protecting the environment
- Supporting community organisations
- Supporting employee development
- Managing corporate responsibility risks in our supply chain
Raising Concerns
We encourage a culture of integrity and transparency. If you have any concerns about a potential breach of this Code of Conduct, please speak up. You can contact our Managing Director. We want everyone to feel comfortable raising concerns and we don’t tolerate retaliation of any kind against anyone raising a genuine concern.
If you raise a concern, please be aware that in some cases, for example for legal reasons, we may not be able to provide you with a report of how any subsequent investigation is concluded. Where we can provide a response, we will aim to do so within five working days of the conclusion of the investigation.
If the result of the investigation indicates that corrective action is called for, such action may include disciplinary measures up to and including termination of the employment of the offender, or if the offender is a client or a supplier then we may seek to end that relationship.
